2018 Roadshows...February sees the Marine Wildlife Roadshow in the Isle of Man, working with the Manx Whale and Dolphin Watch by providing lots of marine wildlife models for their Weekend Show, celebrating MWDW's 12th anniversary of studying cetaceans in Manx waters. With support from Isle of Man Steam Packet with a ferry ticket, and Culture Vannin for funding the venue in Douglas and other costs, this will be a welcome return to this island by the Roadshow. In previous years we have visited most of the Island's primary schools, and been part of many public shows over the past 15 years, highlighting the amazing marine wildlife that visits Manx waters.
In May we worked with lots of other organisations to provide The Ocean Discovery Zone at Devon County Show. This will see a 24m x 15m marquee filled with some of the roadshow species plus lots of interactive and engaging presentations from the best the South West has to offer, highlighting the Ocean and the issues that affect marine wildlife
2017 Update..........its September now and there are lots of pictures of this year's work in the 2017 Roadshow photoalbums, and in the Rescue Training Creatures photoalbum. Currently making another iconic shark species to add to the Roadshow species list, and preparing for the next roadshow event, in the October half term week, Edfest Southwest. At this amazing event, we provide lots of life-sized marine wildlife models and our "beach finds" display, and aim to inspire educators and family groups to engage with the marine environment and explore its diversity. In February we returned to Portsmouth International Port for the Marine Wildlife Festival there, then on to ExCel in London for the Oceans Festival, part of Telegraph Outdoor Adventure Travel Show. Before that, in January, we finished a big order for rescue training creatures for a University at Juneau, in Alaska, including a Stellar's Sea Lion, and then worked on four seal pups for British Divers Marine Wildlife Rescue. March sees us start a big order for more rescue training creatures to be used at a University in Essex, and also we take the Marine Wildlife Roadshow to Abu Dhabi for the Mother of the Nation Festival. Later in the year are return visits to Oxford for their Wild Fair and to Torbay for a Marine Science Day to inspire school teachers and college lecturers to bring our marine wildlife into their teaching. Lots more interesting possible events in the planning stage, and enquiries for creatures to be made for others. See the photoalbums for more info on these.
2016 Roadshows.....Currently making Dugongs for a project in The Gulf, and more penguins and other Antarctic species, plus adapting roadshow format and content to meet demand from Science Festivals worldwide, developing ideas for compact roadshow focusing on UK Killer Whale population, and UK Shark Species, and developing ideas for festive parties featuring Whales and Dolphins, and Penguins too!- see Marine Wildlife Roadshow page. February saw a 4 day roadshow at ExCel in London, working with Whalefest and Incredible Oceans to produce an amazing stand at the 2016 Telegraph Outdoor Adventure & Travel Show. March saw a roadshow for National Science Week, at a college in Devon, highlighting the science of underwater sound, and a return visit to a school in Italy to help the pupils create some Marine Wildlife Installations, highlighting Bottlenose Dolphins, Hammerhead Sharks, and Emperor Penguins.
